POM reinforced plastics provide high stiffness, low friction, and excellent dimensional stability, making them ideal for precision gears, bearings, and automotive fuel system components requiring high mechanical performance and wear resistance.

Polyformaldehyde (POM), commonly known as (poly)acetal, is a semi-crystalline polymer with high strength, good rigidity and high mechanical strength. 
It is widely used in various industrial applications. The chemical formula of polyformaldehyde is (CH2O) n.

POM can be divided into homopolymers and copolymers according to different manufacturing processes. Please check their comparative properties below:

Polyformaldehyde Homopolymer (POM-H), also known as acetal homopolymer, exhibits high crystallinity, resulting in superior density, melting temperature, rigidity, and tensile strength. With enhanced mechanical properties and shorter molding cycles, POM-H effectively reduces production costs while enabling diverse mold designs.
Polyformaldehyde copolymer (POM-C), also known as acetal copolymer, has better tolerance to chemical solvents (alkaline environment), lower melting temperature and faster molding cycle, so it is easier to manufacture and process. In addition, it has better color retention under ultraviolet radiation.

1. POM has a very low coefficient of friction and geometric stability, POM plastic is particularly suitable for the production of gears and bearings.
2. POM has high temperature resistance, so POM is also used in pipeline equipment.
3. POM is a tough and elastic material. POM still has good creep resistance even at low temperatures, and POM has good geometric stability and impact resistance.
4. The high crystallinity of POM leads to a high shrinkage rate, which can reach 2% to 3.5% for POM plastics. POM has different shrinkage rates for various reinforcing materials.
